Wallace Quinn is delighted to have been asked to support the charity Glasgow’s Golden Generation by providing legal advice to older adults using their service.  We’ll be attending the Mattie Carwood Day Centre in Shettleston to answer any questions attendees may have on legal issues affecting their age group – from updating Wills to Powers of Attorney and generally planning for old age.

The Mattie Carwood Day Centre is in Shettleston and focuses on reducing loneliness and isolation in older adults.  Adults who attend the centre are picked up in the morning and have access to a programme of activities including bingo, arts and crafts, armchair exercises, relaxation, reminiscence activities and much more.  After a three course meal, they’re taken back home after each session.

We’ve also supported Carntyne Sunshine Club with advice.  The club runs every Monday from 1pm-3pm in the Carntyne church Hall, running activities with parties, entertainment, outings and talks with interesting organisations. The club is a hive of activity for older adults in the local community to come together to meet old friends and make new ones, no matter their age.

GGG was founded in 1948 to recognise the need to tackle the loneliness experienced by many adults in the city.  Over seventy years later, the service runs 3 day centres, provides welfare advice, weekly social clubs, befriending services and digital support to help older adults get up and running on the internet.

Volunteers are the cornerstone of the service and GGG are always on the lookout for new volunteers;  if you’d like to find out more, log onto www.glasgowgg.org.uk.  Equally, if you know of any older person who may like to find out more about GGG, get in touch.

We’re delighted to be able to help and are looking forward to chatting with Glasgow’s Golden Generation.
