cyber security breach with arm reaching out of computer screen to take a wallet from a bystander's pocket As part of our commitment to clients and our obligations as a firm regulated by the Law Society of Scotland, we do all that we can to keep your data safe and provide measures to maximise cyber security.  In this article, we’ll look at some of the steps we take to do this.

As a regulated company, we have a number of checks we are legally obliged to undertake at the start of any transaction, along with ongoing monitoring and verification duties while we have an ongoing relationship with any client.  In order to do this, we work with Scottish technology firm Amiqus.  One of the fastest growing tech companies in the UK, the Amiqus approach gives both Wallace Quinn and our clients confidence that the process is fast yet secure.

Regular Training for Staff

Our staff are required to undertake regular training on cybersecurity measures. Cyber criminals are clever and by delivering regular training we’re maximising our collective ability to stay cybersafe.

Privacy Policies

How we use your data is as equally important as how we store and project it.  We have prepared a comprehensive policy on this matter which you can read here on our website.

Cyber Security – Help Us Help You

If you receive an email from us that rings a proverbial alarm bell, then take a moment and verify the information.  Please don’t every think you are bothering us or taking an unnecessary step in checking.  The same works in reverse.  If we get in touch to verify something that feels a bit odd to our staff, it might mean an extra conversation as a verification step, but it is less inconvenient than the consequences of a cyber attack.

Transferring Money

One of the areas cyber-scammers are particularly interested in is money transfer.  If we ask you to transfer money, you should ALWAYS take a moment to check and verify the details you are using.  We supply bank details security to clients early on in a transaction (we’ll not reveal here how we do it) and we’ll never ask you to send money to a different account. We’ll never need to rush you into action with money transfers – we’ll have planned and talked you through all relevant dates and you’ll know in plenty of time when a milestone is approaching.

Conclusion

Whilst we work hard to maximise cyber security, no system or policy is completely failproof.  We hope you’ll take confidence from the policies and procedures we have in place, but a key defence against cyber attacks is YOU.   you’re feeling pressurised then something is probably wrong.  If you’re feeling unsure, then something is probably wrong.  If something feels odd, trust your gut and check it out.
